The North Bay General Hospital has confirmed an outbreak of gastro-like illness on 4 West Scollard, a 36 bed medical unit.

Until further notice, admissions to 4 West Scollard will be stopped, but will be reassessed on an ongoing basis. Patients may be discharged home.

Hospital officials are also restricting visitors and family caregivers on the unit. Visitor access to the unit will be restricted to palliative patients or those with special circumstances. Visitors are encouraged to call the unit leader for further direction.

Visitors and caregivers are still allowed to visit on other units at this time, but are asked to stay away from the hospital if they, or anyone in their family, are experiencing any gastro-like symptoms. Visitors are reminded to wash their hands with the alcohol rinse provided in each lobby before entering and leaving the facility.
