Two West Ferris students have plenty to smile about after winning silver at the Canada-Wide Science Fair 2007 in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Grade 12 students Corey Gale and Kyle Willick won the silver in the senior engineering section for their CO2 Reduction project.

“Our project proposes a possible solution to the issue of environmental damage by CO2. After extensive research, we were able to design and fabricate an apparatus capable of reducing the CO2 emitted by any vehicle, regardless of make or model. After fabricating the device, we were able to quantitatively test the effectiveness of the device and concluded that our prototype reduced CO2 emissions by 8.3%,” is how they described their entry.

Also competing at the national fair were Kathleen McParland and Rachel Fung of Chippewa Secondary School, and Meghan Buckle of St. Hubert Catholic School.
