The Ministry of Natural Resources wishes to advise the public that the Restricted Fire Zone previously in place for zones 16-22 including Manitoulin Island has been LIFTED. Keep in mind that the Restricted Fire Zone is still in place for the West Fire Region. Please refer to map at Ontario.ca/forestfire. Campfires are now allowed for cooking and warmth; though some municipalities may impose there own burning restrictions.

MNR FireRanger crews continue suppression efforts on Sault Ste. Marie fire #13 north of the town of Thessalon. The fire is estimated to be about 1542 hectares in size at this time. An Emergency Area Order remains in place for the area surrounding the fire.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations. Please use caution with outdoor fires. Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
