Student employment centre open for business

With the mandate again this year of promoting and facilitating student employment, the Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY) North Bay opened its doors for the summer on May 14th, 2007! The SCCY is looking forward to another successful summer of helping students find work and employers find enthusiastic student employees.

The SCCY invites employers and homeowners to hire a student this summer. Students are affordable, hard-working, skilled and ready to work full-time, part-time, or on a casual basis.

Through the SCCY North bay, students have access to a variety of services, including assistance in résumé writing and job interview preparation. Students may also take part in workshops on effective job search techniques, offered by the SCCY's Youth Services Officers (YSOs), who are students themselves. In addition, registering in the Odd Job Squad is an excellent opportunity for them to build their résumé while earning extra cash.

The SCCY also has an excellent resource library, which offers information on effective job search techniques, the labour market, health and safety in the workplace, and other Government of Canada programs and services.
