The Ontario Provincial Police advise the public that Hwy 64 remains closed following a fatal serious motor vehicle collision.

The estimated length of time for the closure is unknown at this time.

A single motor vehicle collision on Hwy 64 near Hwy 11, claimed the life of the driver. Claude St. Jean, 45, of Glackmeyer Twp, was operating his unloaded log truck when it left the road and entered the ditch rolling over. St. Jean and his passenger were trapped in the wreckage and required extrication. The passenger was treated for minor injuries and released while St. Jean was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision occurred around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday May 12, 2007. A post mortem will be scheduled for this week.

Investigating officer is Prov. Const. Leboeuf of the North Bay Detachment. Members of the Technical Traffic Investigation Unit as well as the Identification Unit assisted him.

North Bay OPP officers are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 64 near Marten River.

A commercial motor vehicle was reported to be overturned in the ditch with the driver trapped inside. Injuries have yet to be qualified and the OPP are advising that Highway 64 will be closed pending their investigation and the removal of the vehicle.

A detour is available via Highway 11 to Highway 17 west to Sturgeon Falls.
