Beyond the Glory 6/19/2006 3:54:39 PM Report bulldogs coach marc mathon: " ..we are going to continue doing the same things until we have success..." albert einstein defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Cannon 6/19/2006 4:05:51 PM Report Hey BTG question, You continually give reasons to why Mathon shouldn't be coach yet nobody other than you questions his abilities. Whats the reason for your personal vendetta against him? Beyond the Glory 6/19/2006 5:10:06 PM Report i never said he shouldnt be the coach......what i continue to say is that i believe he is in over his head....one , because his football knowledge is not up to the level of competition in the nfc and two, because he is working by himself which is basically impossible to do in the sport of football.... also there are more critics than myself around this city, just because they arent on here, or choose not to voice heir opinion, doesnt mean they dont exist....some of his biggest ones play for him every saturday night. lets be honest, theres not a line u[ forming to coach this team, and i have repeatedly said that i applaud marc mathon for the time and effort he puts in , however, i could apply my self vigorously in the efforts to become a brain surgeon....doesnt mean its gonna happen Smokie 6/19/2006 6:24:01 PM Report I can understand that there are some people in town who are concerned about the bulldogs 0-3 record, but what is the bigger picture here? These are guys who love the game enough to keep on playing after their high school days are done, some of them well beyond high school days. These players aren't similar to young OHL males dreaming of fame and fortune in the professional leagues. Nobody's playing for the equivalent of the Memorial Cup either. It's playing football for the sake of playing football; meeting some new people, making some new friends and having a good time in-town and out of town. Would it be more fun to win a few games? - sure, that's human nature, but I doubt that the majority of residents think much about the record of the team. They represent our town the best they can and that's good enough for me. If they were 3-0 and dominated everybody, the feeling in town wouldn't be a whole lot different. frostyb 6/19/2006 8:56:15 PM Report Re Bulldogs: No one can question coach Mathon's dedication, knowlwedge, and love of the game. That being said, many quality people have tried to assist him over the years and walked away in frustration. Marc will listen to people's opinions and then go back to doing the same old thing he's done over the last many years and the results have been the same. If you refuse to tailor your game to suite the type of players you have on your roster and use a one plan fits all attitude the results are quite predictable. Beyond the Glory 6/19/2006 10:07:54 PM Report whats the medias take on this googy? to take a club that was consistantly only losing to the elite nfc team(s) ...to a team that will more than likely only get a single win this year googy 6/19/2006 10:15:51 PM Report BTG-If they were getting paid my response would be far different than going after volunteers NDAFan 6/19/2006 11:12:19 PM Report Nobody questioned Mathons abilities when the team had a decent or even half decent record the past few years. They lose their first 3 games and hes a bum. Maybe they lost a few good players such as all-star Dwayne Lafiette (pardon my spelling) and are working with 2 rookie quarterbacks that havent quite got their groove. Juntura 6/20/2006 1:53:05 AM Report I don't know why people keep saying that Mathon is doing everything by himself. He does have Kelly Lloyd who is the defensive co-ordinator, Nathan Lavigne, and Duke Schreck. I think Marc is in a lose lose situation. Last year he rotated quarterbacks and people faulted him for that. This year he's not rotating them and some people are criticzing him for that. Ramsey and the Bulldogs looked strong at the end of the game this week. They had a 13 play drive that resulted in a touchdown and were able to move the ball. With two rookie QB's, you have to give them time to gel and you have to stick with one through the bumps in the road that are most certainly going to occur. Also coach Mathon can't really be blamed for reasons such as the lack of people coming out to the team, and the lack of people making it out to practice. I know that these guys have other responsibilities and it's totally understandable, but when you hear practices only having 20 guys show up, it's hard to get everyone on the same page so they are prepared for every game. That being said, I do think that the Bulldogs have plenty of weapons and could use a bit more imagination with there playbook. However, when players aren't getting things right when you are just doing the same thing over and over, it's hard to justify changing things up and making things a bit more complicated
