Jürgen Mohr exhibit at Callander Bay Heritage Museum
Tuesday, May 01, 2012 by: Kate Adams
North Bay has been home for Jürgen Mohr for 34 years and during that time he has developed a promoted his art professionally. He was born in Germany in 1948 and came to Canada in 1956. His need to adapt to another language and to conform to a new country has influenced his paintings. This accounts, in part, for the use of text in his canvasses.
Before devoting himself full time to painting and sculpture in the early 1990's, he taught Art and Design at St. Clair College in Chatham and at Canadore College in North Bay and worked as a Graphic Designer for the Forest Products Accident Prevention Association.
He is fascinated with the signs and symbols of primitive cultures and he is inspired by the endless stream of images we experience in our dreams. These topics are explored in Jürgen Mohr's artwork."
Jürgen's opening reception will be Saturday May 5 from 2:00 to 4:00
