The North Bay Police Service is asking the motoring public to be extra vigilant when navigating the downtown core on Friday.

The Armed Forces Day event at the waterfront will attract a large number of spectators and some congestion is expected. In particular, Oak Street in the area of the museum will be reduced to one lane to accommodate bus traffic as thousands of students will be attending the event.

Memorial Drive will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., a detour on Main Street West at Gormanville Road will be in place at 10:30 a.m. and members of the Canadian Forces will be marching to the waterfront from the Royal Canadian Legion on First Ave departing at 11:00 a.m.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES
Between the 25th and the 29th of May the North Bay Police have responded to 10 thefts from parked vehicles. The thefts have occurred throughout the city and not in any specific area. Unlocked cars are being entered and items such as coins, sunglasses and miscellaneous items stolen.

Locked vehicles are being broken into but only when valuable items are in sight such as; purses, wallets, and electronics. The North Bay Police wish to remind drivers to always lock your unattended vehicles and not to leave any valuables visible from outside.
