Police charge driver with impaired after he failed to stop at a red light

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 2 in North Bay

On March 24 shortly after midnight, members from the Nipissing West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Front Street, West Nipissing.

The driver failed to stop at a red light and was stopped by police. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, and then transported to the Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Dwayne Young, 52, from West Nipissing, is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Red light - fail to stop

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 2 in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
