WEEKEND Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 253 calls for service that resulted in 14 arrests.

Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 253 calls for service that resulted in 14 arrests. Offences included assaults, domestic assaults, weapons charges, break and enter, arson, mischief, breach of court orders, and public intoxication.

POSSESSION OF FIREARMS
On 25th May at 12:15 PM police officers located several rifles at a residence on Marshall Park Dr. Troy Oram 38yrs, of Marshall Park Dr, has been charged with breach of prohibition order, unauthorized possession, and unsafe storage of firearms. He is to appear in court on 17th June. Cst Chris Johnson is investigating.

ASSAULT BODILY HARM
On 26th May at 11:11 PM a man attended a complex on McIntyre St E and started kicking in doors to obtain drugs. He left prior to police arrival but returned 30 minutes later where he threw a man to the floor and kicked him several times in the face causing severe facial injuries. The suspect then went next door and kicked another door in but fled without entering. The suspect is male, white, 6ft 2in tall, slim build, with short blonde hair. The investigation is continuing.

BREAK AND ENTER ARREST
On 26 May at 3:53 AM police responded to a break and enter in progress at a Copeland St residence. The area was contained then searched. A 17 yr old male was arrested hiding in a shed in the area. He has been charged with Break enter and theft, trespass by night, and obstruct police. Csts Steve Sproule and Blake Vietmeier are investigating.

ARSONS
On 26th May at 6:19 PM 3 teenage boys used lighter fluid to set fire to a large tree behind the Callander Post Office. The fire got out of control and the Callander Fire Department and police were called. The youths were observed running from the area by fire fighters and they assisted police in securing the area so it could be searched. Callander citizens also assisted police and as a result, all 3 boys were identified, located and arrested. Subsequent investigation determined that two of the youths are responsible for several other occurrences in the area. One youth has been charged with 1 count of arson. The second has been charged with 3 counts of arson, and 2 counts of mischief. The third youth has been charged with 2counts of arson, 2 counts of mischief and three counts of breach of probation. The North Bay Police wish to thank the Callander Fire Department and the Callander citizens who assisted the officers. Without their assistance, immediate arrests were unlikely.
