Weekend Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 252 calls for service that resulted in 24 arrests.

Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 252 calls for service that resulted in 24 arrests. Offences included; assaults, domestic assaults, assault with a weapon, impaired driving, obstruct police, breach of court orders and several for public intoxication.

Fatal Collision
A collision between a motor vehicle and an e-bike at 5:56 pm on July 1st at the intersection of Murray St and Copeland St resulted in the 55yr old male e-bike rider being taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is continuing.

Weapons
At 9:00 pm on 30th June North Bay Police stopped to check a man who appeared to in difficulty laying down on Main St W near the Beer Store. When the officer got out of the cruiser the man pulled a large hunting knife and threatened the officer with it. Use of force options were deployed and he was eventually subdued with a conductive energy device. Daniel Grahovac 44yrs of Sunridge Ontario has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and assault with a weapon. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Suspicious Male
On Sat the 30th June at Police received a complaint of suspicious male taking pictures of young bathers at The Cove. When confronted by the complainant the man would not respond and left the area. He is described as; male, white, mid 30’s, 6’3” to 6’4”, bulky build, 250 lbs, short brown hair in a buzz cut, wearing a green T-shirt, and dark coloured shorts. Cst Robin Boucher is investigating.

Obstruct Police
At 8:55 am 30th Jun North Bay Police responded to a report of a suspicious male on Main St W. The man was located, but gave the officers a false name and date of birth. The man then fled from the officers on foot but was subsequently apprehended. A search located 2 different types of drugs and an identity search revealed warrants for his arrest. Gunner Halpin 19yrs of Cobalt is charged with obstruct police, two counts of possession illicit drugs, and breach of an undertaking. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

E-Bikes and Alcohol
A collision on June 29th between an e-bike and a motor vehicle could result in drinking and driving charges against the e-bike driver. Symptoms of alcohol consumption resulted in a blood demand being made to the driver. Alcohol analysis will determine whether charges are processed. The North Bay police wish to remind the public that drinking and driving offences relate to any vehicle operated in Canada that is powered by anything other than muscular power. This can include e-bikes, lawn tractors, ATV’s and a variety of other vehicles.
