In Dec. of 2003 the North Bay Police Service began an investigation into the fraudulent use of counterfeit credit cards.

The cards had been manufactured in Southern Ontario with a credit card skimming device operating elsewhere
in the province.

The original cardholder would not be aware that the card
had been duplicated until a statement was received.
On the 22nd of Jan. Det. Cst. Jeff Warner and Det. Cst. Barry Ramsay of this Service effected an arrest on a male person in relation to the above investigation.

Since Nov. 2003 there was approximately $20,000. in fraudulent transactions on a number of different counterfeit credit cards.

James Howard, 37, Cooks Mill Road, in North Bay is charged with four counts of breach of an undertaking three counts of use of counterfeit credit cards, two counts of fraud Under $5000.

Howard remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
